Tamem ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Tamem mobile application and the tamem.app website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name (optional)
• Authentication provider data (Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In)

1.2 Learning Data

To personalize your experience, we collect:

• Native language and target language selections
• CEFR placement assessment results
• Practice session history (exercises completed, scores, time spent)
• Vocabulary and mistake records
• Spaced-repetition scheduling data

1.3 Voice Data

When you use Voice Studio:

• Audio is streamed in real time to our AI provider (Google Gemini) for processing
• We do not store raw audio recordings on our servers
• Transcriptions and pronunciation feedback may be retained as part of your session history

1.4 Device and Usage Data

We automatically collect:

• Device type, OS version, and app version
• Crash reports and performance metrics (via Sentry)
• General usage analytics (screens visited, feature usage frequency)

2. How We Use Your Information

• Personalization — Adapt exercises, content difficulty, and AI coaching to your level
• Progress tracking — Show your skill development over time
• Service improvement — Diagnose bugs, improve performance, and develop new features
• Communication — Send essential service notifications (never marketing without consent)
• Subscription management — Process payments and manage plan entitlements via RevenueCat

3. Third-Party Services

We share data with these providers, each under their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — Authentication, database, and backend services
• Google Gemini API — Real-time voice conversation processing
• Anthropic Claude API — Text-based AI feedback (writing, reading)
• RevenueCat — Subscription and in-app purchase management
• Sentry — Error tracking and crash reporting
• Google Mobile Ads — Advertising (free-tier users only)
• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — Authentication

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

• Account information is deleted within 30 days
• Learning data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely

5. Data Security

We protect your data using:

• TLS encryption for all data in transit
• AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest (API keys, tokens)
• Row-level security in our database (Supabase RLS)
• Secure platform keystores (iOS Keychain, Android Keystore) for local secrets

No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we follow industry best practices.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data (see Account Deletion)
• Export your learning data
• Object to or restrict certain processing

7. Children's Privacy

Tamem is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
